Private life and creativity of Franz Kafka, an activity at National Library

TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ In the premises of the “Sotir Kolea” Center, the National Library of Albania, there was held the cultural activity “Franz Kafka in Albania”, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of Austria.

On the 100th anniversary of his death and in honor of the figure of the writer of the absurd, of paradoxes and contrasts, there were invited the Czech Publisher, Writer and Director Markétá Mališová and President of the Austrian Society “Franz Kafka” Charlotte Aigner. They presented to the Albanian readers interesting facts not only about Kafka’s literary creativity, but also about the private life of the famous German-speaking Czech writer, illustrated with impressive photos.

The chief diplomats of the respective embassies, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Albania Karel URBAN and the Ambassador of Austria in Albania Christian Steiner delivered greeting messages to this event, launched by the Deputy Director of the National Library of Albania Etleva Domi.

At the end of the lectures, translator and bibliographer Elda Gjana Boriçi read for the audience some extracts of Franz Kafka’s writings, translated by herself and the late Ardian Klosi.

On occasion of this event, the National Library of Albania opened the exhibition “Kafka in the collections of the National Library of Albania”, which will stay open to readers in the main hall of the National Library of Albania.
