Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in a Facebook post, referred to several ongoing projects and initiatives, including the Thessaloniki Metro and healthcare improvements. He described the Thessaloniki Metro as “the most modern metro in Europe” and highlighted the underground museum at Venizelos Station, which is accessible to visitors free of charge. He reiterated the government’s decision to integrate the metro with the preservation of ancient artifacts, presenting it as a model for future infrastructure projects.
Mitsotakis also mentioned the launch of a program offering 37,000 free afternoon surgeries, funded with 54 million euros from the Recovery Fund, and the installation of 1,388 new traffic cameras across key points in the Attica basin. The initiative aims to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents.
He emphasized efforts to reverse brain drain by creating over 500,000 new jobs in the past five years, supporting the return of Greeks who left during the economic crisis. Additionally, he discussed a domestic Erasmus program for student mobility and the redevelopment of Falirikos Ormos, now progressing following its approval for funding from the European Cohesion Fund.
Addressing artificial intelligence, Mitsotakis noted the establishment of a high-level advisory committee led by scientist Constantinos Daskalakis, describing AI as an issue of “existential importance.” Finally, he referred to Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP), which has become the first Greek public service to obtain triple ISO certification for quality management and anti-bribery practices.
