PM Glavchev Conducts Aerial Check of Bulgaria-Turkiye Border

Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev inspected the Bulgaria-Turkiye border fence by helicopter, the Council of Ministers said on their Facebook page on Monday. He was accompanied by Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, Border Police Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, and Chief of Defence Emil Eftimov.

Their goal was to establish any compromised sections in the fence and see if video surveillance is needed.

Back in September, Interior Minister Ilkov told Parliament that for the period between January 1 and September 9, 2024, a total of 40,210 people tried to enter Bulgaria across the border with Turkiye.
