Panoramic observatory to be built in Bodoc Mts. with EU funding

Bucharest – The Covasna County Council will build with European funding a modern mountain refuge with a panoramic observatory in the Bodoc Mountains of the Curvature Carpathians, Council president Tamas Sandor announced.

“We won a European funding program for the construction of the Bodoc Peak observatory, a project that will receive RON 1.5 million in financing. The contract is about to be concluded and I hope that next year we’ll be able to take in the surrounding views from the Bodoc observatory, together with all nature lovers,” said Tamas Sandor on Thursday.

The observatory will sit at an altitude of 1,190 meters; the construction made of wood, metal and glass will have four floors. The ground floor will serve as a shelter for tourists, and the upper floors will accommodate, among others, a panoramic cabin and an observation deck.

The project also provides for the organization of informal tourist guide courses for members of the local community, as well as courses for the opening of local gastronomic points, guided visits on a voluntary basis for students, the digitization of local mountain trails and the organization of an annual concert on Bodoc Peak to promote the local natural sightseeing heritage.
