A 22-year-old woman from a town near Parma, Chiara Petrolini, was sentenced to 24 years and three months Friday for murdering her two newborn babies in 2023 and 2024 and burying the bodies in her garden.

Petrolini, from the town of Traversetolo, was convicted of the murders of two newborns born on May 12, 2023, and August 7, 2024, and then buried in her home garden.

The defendant was acquitted of the murder of her firstborn in May 2022.

Petrolini was found to be of sound mind when she committed the murders.

The prosecution had requested 26 years in jail for her.
