Podgorica, (MINA) – The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office (VDT) formed an Operational Team tasked to fight human trafficking, illegal border crossing and people smuggling.

VDT announced that the decision on the Operational Team formation was signed by Minister Danilo Saranovic and Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Markovic.

According to the press release, the Operational Team will consist of the representatives of the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Interior and the police.

The press release emphasizes that the decision extends the competences of the previous team in order to include cases of illegal border crossing and people smuggling.

“Through judicial and police cooperation, especially with countries in the region, as well as other international institutions and organizations, Montenegro’s national authorities will combat these criminal acts, which will be reflected at the European level”, the press release reads.
