Italian mothers getting older, 1st child after 32 on average

Italian mothers are getting older and older and the average age of having their first child is over 32, the health ministry said in a report on birth rate Tuesday.

It said “the phenomenon of childlessness is continuing too”.

Some 535,428 babies were born in Italy in 2012 compared with the 393,997 born in 2022, it said.
