Opening of the Apostolic Nunciature in Podgorica would be an important step in strengthening of the ties between Montenegro and the Holy See, the collocutors agreed during the meeting between Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic and Apostolic Nuncio Francis Assisi Chullikatt.

The press release from the President’s office stated that Milatovic and Chullikatt, Apostolic Nuncio for Montenegro, based in Sarajevo, agreed that cooperation between Montenegro and the Holy See is characterized by intensive and constructive political dialogue, friendly ties and lack of open issues.

Milatovic, according to the press release, underscored the importance of the initiative of opening of a resident Holy See representation in Montenegro, adding that he is ready to offer necessary support to open the Nunciature in Podgorica.

The meeting, according to the press release, underscored that the forthcoming visit of the Foreign Minister of the Holy See Richard Gallagher to Montenegro will be an additional incentive in that direction.
