“Olympic Medals – Paris 2024” philatelic issue, from Friday, in Romfilatelia stores

Romfilatelia announces that it will put into circulation, as of Friday, the “Olympic Medals – Paris 2024” philatelic issue, consisting of seven postage stamps, an unindented envelope and a set of three “first day” envelopes, in which the winning Romanian athletes are presented.

Nine medals – three gold, four silver and two bronze – make up the “harvest” with which the Romanian athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, held between July 26 and August 11, returned home.

The sports in which these remarkable results were obtained are swimming (100 m freestyle and 200 m freestyle), men’s double sculls, women’s light category double sculls, women’s sculls, rowing (8+1), women’s sculls, women’s gymnastics and dumbbells (49 kg).

According to Romfilatelia, the stamp with the nominal value of 25 RON depicts swimmer David Popovici, a high-class athlete, winner of the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle and the bronze medal in the 100 m freestyle. He is the youngest world record holder, also awarded gold at the World and European Championships in 2021 and 2022.

The stamp with the nominal value of 22 RON shows the images of athletes Florian Enache and Andrei Cornea, winners of the men’s rowing gold medal.

On the stamp with the nominal value of 4 RON are reproduced the images of athletes Simona Radis and Ancuta Bodnar, the winners of the silver medal in rowing, the women’s double rowing event. They also stepped onto the podium as gold medal winners in the women’s coxed eight.

The stamp with the nominal value of 3 RON shows the image of the athlete Mihaela Valentina Cambei, the winner of the silver medal in the women’s weightlifting event in the 49 kg category.

On the stamp with the nominal value of 6 RON are illustrated the images of athletes Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel, winners of the silver medal in the women’s double sculls.

The stamp with the nominal value of 13 RON reproduces the images of rowers Ionela Cozmiuc and Gianina van Groningen, who won the silver medal in the women’s double rowing event, the light category. Along with the silver medal, Ionela Cozmiuc added the gold medal won in the women’s sculls rowing event.

The stamp with the nominal value of 2 RON shows the image of the gymnast Ana Maria Barbosu, winner of the bronze medal in the floor event. Holder of several titles rewarded with gold on vault, parallel bars and beam at the junior championships in 2020, she won the bronze medal at Paris 2024, after correcting a serious refereeing error in the confrontation with the American gymnast Jordan Chiles, the quoted source mentions.

On the stamp of the issue package with the nominal value of 33 RON, the images of rowers Simona Radis, Ioana Vrinceanu, Amalia Beres, Adriana Adam, Maria Lehaci, Ancuta Bodnar, Roxana Anghel, Maria Magdalena Rusu and Stefania Victoria Petreanu, the representatives of Romania in the eight-frame event, are illustrated with female helmsmen, gold medal winners.

The set of 3 envelopes “first day” of the show presents in graphics the crew of the test of eight frames with female coxswains.
