Nautical tourism seen as important for the tourism industry

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic has said that nautical tourism is an important component of Montenegro’s tourism industry, with potential for further growth and development, which will depend on the practices of neighbouring countries.

Along with State Secretary Vuk Zizic, she participated in the Ministerial Summit in Costa Navarino, Greece, organized on the occasion of the opening of the Centre for Coastal and Nautical Tourism Research and Monitoring in the Eastern Mediterranean.

“Nautical tourism, as an important component of the tourism product, is becoming increasingly important in Montenegro. Montenegro has positioned itself as a destination that, with its vast natural wealth and significant cultural and historical heritage, has the potential to become a recognized point on the map of nautical tourism,” said Kordic.

Consequently, she believes that the importance of investing in high-quality tourism and the developing this type of product has been recognized in recent years, presenting a new development opportunity to leverage Montenegro’s evident potential.

Following the Summit, a joint statement was signed by Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Albania, Italy, and Cyprus, confirming a multilateral interest in establishing closer cooperation in the field of sustainable nautical tourism.
