National Gallery presents ‘110 years Since Lena Stefanova’s Birth’ exhibition

The National Gallery of North Macedonia has organized an exhibition to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Macedonian artist Lena Stefanova. The art show will open at Chifte Amam on Dec. 20 and run through February, organizers said.

Art historian Viktorija Vaseva Dimeska and National Gallery director Dita Starova Qerimi will open the exhibition.

According to organizers, very few reviews and scholarly papers have been written about Stefanova’s work. “Of course, a small number of catalogs from her posthumous exhibitions give some insight into her art, but these are relatively short writings that do not go into any detailed analysis of her work,” the National Gallery said.

However, they highlight, Stefanova is a key figure in contemporary Macedonian visual arts.

The exhibition was curated by Tatjana Bundalevska and Elena Ivanova.
