Bosnia and Herzegovina remained the most popular destination for Croatian travellers abroad, followed by Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Germany. Travel was heavily seasonal, with June to August accounting for 39% of all trips.
Seaside holidays and visits to family and friends were the main reasons for travel, while city breaks dominated trips abroad.

The country also recorded 29.9 million overnight stays, two-thirds of them within Croatia, with non-commercial accommodation such as private homes accounting for the largest share.
Business travel also increased abroad, up 17.6%, while domestic business trips fell by 15%.
In addition, Croatians made 5.8 million day trips, down 24.4% on the year, with private travel making up more than 90% of the total.
