Montenegro among countries with very high human development index

New York/Podgorica, (MINA) – For the seventh year in a row Montenegro is in the category of countries with very high human development index, according to the latest report published by UNDP.

The UNDP Office in Montenegro announced that, with the index of 0.844, Montenegro is at the 50th position out of 193 countries and territories.

The UNDP Office said that, apart from Montenegro, Slovenia (22nd place), Croatia (39th place) and Serbia (65th place) are among the countries of the region placed among the very highly developed countries.

The UNDP emphasized that Montenegro HD index increased from 0.749 to 0.844 in the period between 2003 and 2022, which represents an increase of 12.7 percent.

They add that the female HDI for 2022 in Montenegro is 0.833 compared to 0.852 for male citizens of Montenegro.

UNDP Resident Representative in Montenegro Ekaterina Paniklova pointed out that Montenegro, when it comes to the HDI, has recorded incrase and remains in the category of very highly developed countries.

She said that, through carefully created policies and strategies, it is important to keep the focus on green and sustainable development, social protection, strengthening institutions, reaching gender equality, as well as encouraging innovation.
