Modern techniques for cataract surgery in Tirana

TIRANA, December 14/ATA/ At the French Ophthalmology Hospital in the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center in Tirana (QSUT), there are successfully performed cataract surgeries through the modern Phacoemulsification technique.

Prime Minister Edi Rama praised this as an excellent example of advanced care offered for eye health and a better life for every patient.

Rama said that this modern technique applied for cataract surgery is an important step towards improving the quality of life for patients.

“The technique used during cataract surgery is Phacoemulsification, i.e. the eye’s internal lens is emulsified using ultrasonic energy and replaced with an intraocular lens implant. It is a technique that reduces the operating time, facilitates the recovery of patients and improves the quality of vision and quality of life at the same time”, said an ophthalmologist.
