Mobile unit for voluntary blood donation

TIRANA, July 14 /ATA/ Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu participated today in the activity organized as part of World Blood Donor Day, during which there was presented an ambulance which will function as a mobile unit to enable voluntary blood donation.

In her speech, Minister Koçiu said that the ambulance will move all over the country according to a certain calendar.

According to her, donating blood in the ambulance means that the National Blood Transfusion Center is as close as possible to the donors in the main squares of the cities, making it as easy as possible for citizens to donate blood.

“This ambulance will move to every corner of the territory that has donors and wants to donate, it will create even more convenience for the National Blood Center to have enough blood deposits for all those who need it”, underlined Koçiu.

She added that with this ambulance we complete the entire cycle from blood collection to delivery to the blood bank.

The minister also focused on the investment made from the state budget that has transformed the National Blood Transfusion Center into a real center of excellence in Albanian health.

Koçiu said that the government efforts are focused on raising further the awareness of the citizens about voluntary blood donation.

Every blood donor, as well as periodic ones, benefit from performing some free tests.
