Podgorica, (MINA) – As an EU member state and NATO ally, Bulgaria continuous to strongly support Montenegro’s European bid, said Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic.

Milatovic hosted on Monday Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rosen Zhelyazkov, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.

According to the press release from Milatovic’s office, excellent relations characterized by traditional friendship based on close historical and cultural ties between Montenegro and Bulgaria were affirmed during the meeting.

Milatovic underscored that Bulgaria, as an EU member and an ally in NATO, continuously provides strong support for Montenegro’s European bid.

He pointed out that it is extremely important for Montenegro.

“Montenegro must hurry to join the EU. Our obligation is to speed up reforms, to meet the commitments and to become a full member of the EU by 2028”, stressed Milatovic.
