Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic has said that Montenegro’s maritime infrastructure plays a crucial and multifaceted role in strengthening the security architecture in the southern Adriatic, contributing both to regional stability and international security cooperation.
At a panel titled “Western Balkans as a Security Provider for the EU – Role of Infrastructure Connectivity,” held during the Tirana Connectivity Forum, Radulovic stated that the Port of Bar was not only an economic asset but also a strategic one.
“Its position as Montenegro’s primary port makes it a gateway for trade and a key logistical hub for NATO operations in the region. By increasing the port’s capacity and security, we ensure that it remains a reliable asset for our allies and a point of resilience against potential threats,” Radulovic said.
He added that the Montenegrin Navy and its base in Bar were part of efforts aimed at maintaining maritime security.
Radulovic reminded that the Montenegrin Navy actively participated in regional security operations, such as joint patrols and search and rescue missions, which were vital for maintaining the safety and security of Adriatic waters.
“We are committed to continuing the modernization of our maritime capacities, demonstrating Montenegro’s commitment to collective security as a NATO member,” Radulovic stated.
