Kosovo marks an increase in tourism in the first six months of 2024

Kosovo has recorded an increase in the number of tourism in the first six months of 2024. On World Tourism Day, it was said that the country has already become a tourist destination for foreigners.

In marking this day, the chairman of the Kosovo Tourism Union, Baki Hoti, said that the growth of tourism was 24.6 percent in the first six months of the year and that he expects the same trend to be in the remaining part of 2024.

“Kosovo is no longer just a passageway for visitors, but a tourist destination. Fortunately, the first six months of 2024 have seen a continuous increase. As for the number of international tourists, we have an increase of over 24.6 percent in the number of international visitors visiting Kosovo. The good news is that we also have an increase in overnight stays. We managed to make the visitors stay longer in Kosovo. This is thanks to the festivals and activities that are taking place and the tourist attractions that are being increasing”, he said.

The increase in the number of tourists was welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Emilja Rexhepi, who said that Kosovo has open doors for foreign visitors.

She said that Kosovo has an ideal position to become a center for tourists who want to explore.

“Kosovo, based on its geographical position, is located in the heart of the Balkans. This puts us in an ideal position to become a center for tourists who want to explore this European country. Our country has unique natural resources, mountains, rivers, lakes, as well as a rich history and culture”, she said.

On the other hand, the mayor of the Municipality of Prishtina, Përparim Rama said that the capital city offers a great cultural wealth and natural beauty for tourists.

“Prishtina, as a capital that offers a great cultural and historical wealth, is interested in being part of these processes. In addition to having a welcoming tradition, lively atmosphere, it has much more to offer visitors and tourists who visit us in the capital. Also for the natural beauties that we have not only in urban areas through festivals but also in the wonderful nature of Gollak. We have a large number of historical monuments, we also have the best macchiato in the world, Italians are also agreeing to this”, said Rama.
