Lea Ypi, member of British Academy

TIRANA, July 18/ATA/ Lea Ypi became the first Albanian member of the British Academy. The National Book and Reading Center gave the news while congratulating the writer Lea Ypi for this important achievement.

This year, the British Academy has welcomed 86 new members, among them the Albanian Writer Lea Ypi.

The president of the British Academy Julia Black praised the Albanian author, welcoming her to the highest space of British culture.

Lea Ypi is the first winner of the “Lumo Skëndo” Award from the National Book and Reading Center, with her book “Free”.

Lea Ypi was born in Durrës. She is Lecturer of Political Theory at the London School of Political Science and Economics and Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University. She graduated in Philosophy and Literature from La Sapienza University and completed her PhD studies at the European University Institute.

Among her many publications are “Global Justice and Avant-Garde Political Agency”, “The Meaning of Partisanship” (with Jonathan White), etc. Her work has been translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Chinese. (Mandarin). With her studies, she received several international awards.

She has published two books in the Albanian language: “Only for yourself” and “Free”. The book “Free” has also been published in English and has had an extraordinary success in the international arena.
