The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that in the wake of the construction of the sports infrastructure for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, the construction of the national stadium is also foreseen.
This is what Kurti announced at the meeting of the Government of Kosovo, describing the organization of the Mediterranean Games as the biggest international event in the history of our country.
“With the mobilization of the entire government cabinet and in cooperation with the Kosovo Olympic Committee, we have brought the Republic of Kosovo the opportunity to organize the largest international event in the history of our country. The concept with which we marked this victory is very special and in line with the vision of our government for the development of sports in the country. In partnership with Albania, for the first time this event is organized in a landlocked country”, said Kurti.
Kurti added that in the infrastructure construction program, 24 sports facilities are planned to be built and renovated, such as the national stadium, the Olympic swimming pool, and others.
“Improving and building the physical sports infrastructure is at the center of the Republic of Kosovo’s application and victory for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games. The total number of sports facilities included in the initial concept of this project is 24… Four sports facilities will be renovated, including the Palace of Youth and Sports, new constructions that include the national stadium, the Olympic swimming pool complex, the tennis complex… Five temporary infrastructure investments and five other projects which are under construction or completion, among which the stadium ‘Adem Jashari’ in Mitrovica and the stadium of the city of Gjilan”, he said.
On September 8 at the regular meeting of the Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, Kosovo won the right to organize the 2023 Mediterranean Games.
