Kordic: Montenegro shapes image as year-round, sustainable destination

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, Montenegro has the potential to become a year-round, authentic, and attractive destination, thanks to its unique combination of coastline and the untouched nature of the north.

In an interview with Gulf News, she said the Ministry of Tourism is implementing targeted programmes and incentive measures designed to overcome seasonality and promote balanced development across all regions.

“The northern region, with its pristine natural landscapes, mountain resorts, and authentic experiences, represents an undiscovered gem with the capacity to become a powerful engine of year-round tourism,” said Kordic.

She added that the development of ski resorts, investments in infrastructure were in focus, along with the provision of incentives for innovative and sustainable tourism ventures, and the promotion of active, adventure, rural, and wellness tourism.

Particular focus is placed on digitalization as a key tool used in modern tourism. According to Kordic, a comprehensive digital platform is being developed to consolidate the country’s entire tourism portfolio, from hiking and cycling to cultural-historical heritage and the coastline.

“Through this effort, we are creating a modern face of Montenegrin tourism – accessible, customised, and informative,” said Kordic.

She highlighted sustainability as the foundation of development in the tourism industry.

“Nature is not merely a scenic backdrop for tourism – it is our main asset and the core product we present to the world,” said Kordic.
