Bucharest, March 16/Agerpres/ – Romanian Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, and German Minister of Economy and Energy, Katherina Reiche, signed a joint declaration on Monday regarding investments in energy production capacities, industrial capacities, renewable energy, hydrogen, natural gas, carbon capture and storage.

“Today, together with Katherina Reiche, the German Minister of Economy and Energy, I signed the joint declaration that opens a direct partnership and concrete opportunities for the development and economic security of Romania. Germany is already Romania’s main economic partner. The declaration signed today opens cooperation in a series of essential areas: investments in energy production capacities, industrial capacities, energy security, energy efficiency, renewable energy, hydrogen, natural gas, carbon capture and storage,” announced Bogdan Ivan, in a post on his Facebook page.

According to him, Romania is increasingly seen as a regional energy hub, at a time when energy security, infrastructure and interconnections have become strategic themes for the whole of Europe.

In this context, in the opinion of the Romanian minister, “the consolidation of the Vertical Corridor, of diverse energy resources, including from the USA, and the development of energy links in the region have a clear stake: a safer, better connected and less vulnerable Europe to changes in the global oil and gas market”.

“The declaration signed today is the direct result of the steps I took during my official visit to Berlin in October 2025, and consolidates Romania’s role as an important actor in the European energy sector. Now, it is important to take this partnership further and transform it into investments, projects and concrete results for Romania,” the Minister of Energy concluded his post.
