ZAGREB, 10 Sept (Hina) – At the end of August this year, 75,495 people were registered as unemployed with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), 14.2% or 12,491 fewer than in August last year, HZZ data released on Wednesday show.
Compared with July, the number of unemployed rose by 3.2%, or 2,312 people.
According to daily HZZ figures, 74,677 people are currently registered as unemployed, with 20,218 job vacancies advertised.
During August, 9,692 people were newly registered as unemployed, 3.8% more than in August 2024. Of these, 6,781 people, or 70%, came from employment. A further 1,190 people (12.3%) entered the unemployment register after finishing regular education, and 1,721 people (17.7%) from inactivity.
According to HZZ data, 7,380 people left the unemployment register, 19.3% fewer than in August last year. Of these, 4,660 found employment, with 4,180 people (89.7%) through starting a job and 480 people (10.3%) through other work-related activities.
