The extrication team of the “Horea” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) of Mures County won the world title of “Best Technical Team” at the INTERSCHUTZ 2026 – Holmatro Rescue Challenge, held in Hanover, Germany, in recognition of its ability to demonstrate the highest level of performance and precision in equipment handling and the application of extrication techniques.

According to the competition’s website, the global “Best Technical Team” title was officially awarded to the Mures Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU), which represented Romania with resounding success at this year’s edition.

In addition to international recognition, the winning team in this category receives professional rescue equipment sets provided by the organisers, according to the competition website.

The “Horea” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Mures County said on Monday that at INTERSCHUTZ 2026 – Holmatro Rescue Challenge, the Mures Extrication Team of ISU Mures had the honour of competing alongside some of the best-trained rescue teams in the world.

“In an environment where every decision matters, our colleagues demonstrated that excellence is built through discipline, perseverance and a constant desire to improve for the benefit of those in need. The ‘Best Technical Team’ award represents more than a result in an international competition. It is confirmation that continuous training, team spirit and attention to every detail make the difference when time becomes the greatest adversary,” ISU Mures said in a press release on Monday.

“Best Technical Team”, ISU Mures representatives explained, is a distinction that reflects training, precision and countless hours dedicated to improvement.

“The experience in Hanover motivates us even more ahead of the National Extrication and Qualified First Aid Championship Final, where we will proudly represent Mures County. Congratulations to all members of the Mures Extrication Team for winning the ‘Best Technical Team’ award and for the exemplary manner in which they represented Mures County and Romania on the international stage. This award confirms the team’s high level of training, team spirit and constant commitment to improvement, both in exercises and in operations carried out in service of the community. We wish you every success in future competitions and many more achievements that will confirm the value, determination and professionalism of this team,” ISU Mures said.

The third edition of the INTERSCHUTZ 2026 – Holmatro Rescue Challenge took place in Hanover, Germany, from 1 to 6 June 2026. The event brought together 28 firefighting and rescue teams from around the world, including Romania’s ISU Mures team, which competed in complex rescue scenarios using state-of-the-art equipment on modern vehicles.
