Heads of state are planning to visit Cyprus soon to show their support to the Amalthea project, said here on Tuesday President Nikos Christodoulides.
Asked by reporters to comment on the flow of ships going back and forth to Gaza from Larnaca port carrying humanitarian aid, he said the initiative is running smoothly and this is “very important”.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 35th Annual General Assembly of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, President Christodoulides said “we have enough help from third countries that want to contribute to this effort” while “we will have some visits soon from heads of state who supported this initiative, want to support it even more”.
The President added, “I consider it an important development that an initiative of the Republic of Cyprus is now being implemented, which started, let me remind you in October 2023.
Humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea is delivered through the port of Larnaca, Cyprus, under the “Amalthea” plan, an initiative of the Republic of Cyprus implemented in cooperation with other states and international organisations.
