Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos held a meeting on Wednesday with Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit in the framework of his working visit to Egypt.
According to an official press release, Kombos and Gheit exchanged views on the current developments in the Middle East.
The Cypriot FM, who paid Egypt a two-day working visit June 4-5, 2024 held a tete a tete meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, followed by extended consultations with the participation of delegations from the two Ministries. They discussed bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, EU-Egypt relations, as well as regional developments in the Middle East.
The two Ministers also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of the Republic of Cyprus and the Arab Republic of Egypt for the employment of Egyptian citizens in Cyprus. The objective of the Memorandum is to facilitate and regulate the entry and residence of Egyptian workers in Cyprus for employment in various sectors, depending on the needs of the market and the government’s policy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs gave a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart after the consultations, while he also held a meeting with Egyptian press representatives and gave an exclusive interview to an Egyptian TV channel.
