Education Ministry hosts children from Nagorno-Karabakh

Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and following an initiative of the Representative of the Armenian religious group in the Parliament, Vartkes Mahdessian, hosted 30 refugee children, who fled to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh, because of the of war. The children were accompanied by three attendants. 

An announcement says that through this initiative Cyprus demonstrated its undivided support to the Armenian people and especially to the children, who are the innocent victims of the war. 

The children had the opportunity to get to know Cyprus, its history and culture and to learn about the Cyprus problem. They also met with the Armenian community in Cyprus and visited, among others, the Narek Armenian schools in Larnaca, Nicosia and Limassol, participating in daily school activities. 

They also attended an event at Narek school in Nicosia ahead of Christmas, New Year and Epiphany celebrations. 

The children sang Christmas songs in the Armenian language, in the presence of Education Minister Athena Michaelidou.
