ZAGREB, 20 March (Hina) – The average monthly net wage per employee in legal entities in Croatia amounted to €1,511 in January this year, which is 8.5% higher nominally and 4.9% higher in real terms year on year, according to data released on Friday by the national statistical office (DZS).

Compared with December 2025, the average net salary in January was 1.1% higher nominally and 0.8% higher in real terms.

The highest average monthly net salary in January was recorded in air transport, at €2,352, while the lowest was in the clothing manufacturing sector, at €986.

According to the DZSВ report, the median net salary for January 2026 was €1,304, meaning that half of employees earned less and half earned more than that amount. Compared with December 2025, the median salary in January rose by 1.9%, and by 8.7% compared with the same month the previous year.

Salary distribution by deciles shows that 10% of employees earned up to €859 in January, and as many as 60% of employees earned up to €1,464В and a toal of 70% earned up to €1,644. This indicates that around two-thirds of employees earn less than the average.

The average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities for January 2026 amounted to €2,114, which is 1.3% higher nominally and 1.0% higher in real terms compared with December 2025.

On an annual basis, the average gross salary was 9.8% higher nominally and 6.2% higher in real terms.
