Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic has said that no tourist destination can be competitive without good air connectivity, adding that each new route brings more tourist arrivals.
“That’s why we initiated the launch of a direct flight route to Sofia – not only to open up toward Bulgaria, with whom we are discussing joint tourism initiatives – but also to access much broader markets. Good air connectivity is a key prerequisite for tourism development,” Kordic said at a meeting with Vukadin Stojanovic, Executive Director of the national airline, Air Montenegro.
The meeting was organized to discuss the airline’s performance and future plans, with a focus on the importance of air connectivity for tourism development.
Stojanovic reported that Air Montenegro was achieved excellent business results and that the company is fully open to further negotiations and expanding its network of destinations. He particularly highlighted that February and March saw record-high passenger load factor.
He also announced that, for the first time, Montenegro would be connected this summer with four cities in France – Paris, Nantes, Lyon, and Lille – and that Air Montenegro was expected to operate up to ten year-round routes this year.
