€4 million to be invested in air transport development

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Transport has continued to implement measures to improve air transport, under which an additional €4 million will be allocated for enhancing Montenegro’s air connectivity following an agreement with Wizz Air.

The Government adopted a proposal from the Ministry of Transport stipulating that part of the profit generated by Airports of Montenegro, amounting to €4.12 million, will be directed towards financing improvements in Montenegro’s air connectivity.

The Ministry stated in a press release that these funds were transferred back to the state budget, in line with the Statute of Airports of Montenegro.

“At the initiative of the Ministry of Transport, the Government has agreed that these funds be used for the development of air transport, as part of a strategic approach to strengthening Montenegro’s international connectivity and competitiveness,” the press release reads.

As explained, this decision builds on concrete measures by the Ministry of Transport aimed at improving air transport and increasing accessibility, following the recent agreement with airline Wizz Air on opening a base in Montenegro.
