ANA-MPA visits the construction hall for the Hellenic Navy’s ‘Themistocles’ frigate at Naval Group’s shipyards
The Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) was given a tour on Friday of the construction hall at Naval Group’s shipyards in Lorient, France, where work is under way to build Greece’s fourth FDI HN (Belharra)-class frigate, the “Themistocles”.
According to the schedule, the frigate is expected to join the Hellenic Navy fleet in 2028.
It is the fourth frigate under the FDI HN programme for the Hellenic Navy, and the first to be built to the most advanced Standard 2++ configuration.
Following a flag-raising ceremony taking place on Friday in Lorient, France, the second Belharra frigate acquired by Greece, the “Nearchos”, is being delivered to the Hellenic Navy. The first FDI frigate built for Greece, the “Kimon”, has already joined the fleet.
The flag-raising ceremony on the third Belharra frigate, the Formion, is expected to take place by the end of the year.
