DZS: Inflation in April down to 3.7%

ZAGREB, 30 April (Hina) – The inflation rate in Croatia, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, was 3.7% in April on an annual basis, down from 4.1%В in March, the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said in its flash estimate on Tuesday.

The prices of goods and services for personal consumption were 3.7% higher in April 2024 than in April 2023 (on an annual basis) and 0.7% higher than in March 2024 (on a monthly basis).

Year on year, the prices of services went up by 6.3%, food, beverages and tobacco by 4.5%, industrial non-food products excluding energy by 2.0% and energy by 1.1%.

Month on month, the prices of industrial non-food products excluding energy increased by 1.2%, services by 0.7%, and food, beverages and tobacco by 0.7%, while the prices of energy decreased by 0.4%.

According to the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, published by Eurostat on Tuesday, the annual inflation rate in Croatia in April was 4.7%, the second highest rate in the euro area after Belgium (4.9%).

The average annual inflation rate in the euro area in April was estimated at 2.4%.
