Consumer basket amounts to €830 in December

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the official statistics, the minimum value of the consumer basket amounted to €830 in December, 3.7  percent more than in the same period last year.

Of the total value of the consumer basket, food and non-alcoholic beverages amounted to €382.6, while the non-food products and services amounted to €447.4.

“Compared with the same period last year, the cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food products and services increased by 8.4 percent,” stated a press release issued by Monstat.

According to Monstat, the minimum value of the consumer basket amounted to €824.5 in October and €825.6 in November.

The minimum value of consumer basket is related to the households’ expenses for food, non-food products and services, necessary for sustaining family members and maintaining the ability to work.

The minimum value of consumer basket has been harmonized with recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), and an USDA Food Guide 2010, adopted by the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America, defining the minimum calorie intake of 2,210 Kcal a day per person.
