FM Gerapetritis in the Middle East: Shaping the next day in talks with regional counterparts

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis is on an official visit to Middle Eastern countries amid a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and significant developments in Syria.

According to diplomatic sources, Gerapetritis is among the first European foreign ministers to visit the region since the ceasefire in Gaza.
Greece is actively present in the Middle East and a reliable interlocutor for all parties involved, the same sources said adding that “we have strategic relations with Israel while maintaining traditional ties with the Arab world.”

They also stress that Greece wishes to offer its good offices in order to increase the provision of humanitarian aid and consolidate peace and prosperity in the region.

Gerapetritis’ talks with his counterparts are about shaping the next day in the Middle East. Also discussed are issues including Greece’s term as an elected member of the UN Security Council for the two-year period 2025-2026.
