Bulgaria to Be Named Preferred Travel Destination in 2024 by European Organization

Bulgaria will be designated a preferred destination in 2024 by the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA). This transpired at the ECTAA annual meeting in Lamego, Portugal, the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents said on Friday.

This means that next year Bulgaria will be advertised among the members of all of the industry’s national associations in Europe. Tourism officials from 26 countries will come here for their next annual meeting and will have a chance to learn firsthand about the country’s potential in tourism.

The initiative became possible and will be implemented thanks to the support of the Ministry of Tourism as part of the marketing push to promote Destination Bulgaria.

The ECTAA meeting in Portugal was attended by over 50 delegates representing tourism companies across Europe. It focused on the organization’s innovative initiatives related to the Climate Action Plan and the use of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector.

Towards the close of the meeting, ECTAA Executive Board member Daniela Stoeva gave a brief presentation of Destination Bulgaria and various opportunities for tourism which the ECTAA members will get acquainted with through various communication formats of the Preferred Destination Programme.

Stoeva commented: “Our meeting in Lamego has shown our resolve to deal with climate change and to link the future of the tourism industry to artificial intelligence. We believe that by setting an example of climate action and using the power of artificial intelligence, we can best serve our customers, our industry and our planet.”
