Beaches, lagoons, culture and cuisine, Xhani for ATA: 1.4 million tourists visited Lezha

TIRANA, October 19/ATA/ Lezha with its coast and lagoons, cultural and historical sites, stunning landscapes attracts more and more local and foreign holiday-makers.

The beaches of Lezha, Shengjini, Talja or Rana e Hedhun are massively frequented.

There are about 1.4 million tourists who have visited Lezha during the period January-October 2024, while holidaymakers from Kosovo lead again with 75% of bookings.

Foreign tourists, who come mainly from Germany, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Poland and Ukraine, account for 20% of the total figure, followed by holidaymakers from different cities of Albania with 5%.

Renaldo Xhani, director of Tourism and Culture Department in the municipality of Lezha provided the figures. Speaking in an interview for ATA, he focused on the achievements of this tourist season, but also the challenges faced by the local authorities to guarantee the smooth progress of the season.

Xhani said that the accommodation tax has increased by 30% more than last year.

The combination of coastal tourism with historical and natural tourism and the rich cuisine make Lezha a destination for year-round tourism.

Xhani emphasized that the “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” Memorial had 17,270 visitors from January to August 2024.

In recent years, Lezha has become well-known even for ideal gastronomy, i.e. for delicious dishes, quality service, reasonable prices that have been appreciated by local and foreign tourists.

Xhani also spoke about the challenges that the local authorities have faced during this summer season and considered the fire situation as problematic.
