Average net salary in Croatia reaches €1,446 in August

The average monthly net salary per employee in Croatian legal entities reached €1,446 in August 2025, up 0.6% nominally and 0.5% in real terms from July, and 9.2% nominally and 4.9% in real terms year on year, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported.

The median net salary for August was €1,245, down 0.3% from July but up 9.8% compared with the same month last year.

The highest average net salary was recorded in air transport (€2,430) and the lowest in clothing manufacturing (€918).

The average gross monthly salary for August was €2,015, up 0.8% nominally and 0.7% in real terms from July, and 9.6% nominally and 5.3% in real terms compared with August 2024.

For the period from January to August, the average monthly net salary per employee in Croatian legal entities was €1,434, up 10.1% nominally and 6.2% in real terms compared with the same period in 2024. The average gross salary for the same period was €1,993, up 10.8% nominally and 6.8% in real terms.

Two-thirds of employees earn below the average

Analysis of net salaries by decile shows that slightly less than two-thirds of employees earned below the average in August.

The sixth decile stood at €1,400, meaning 60% of employees earned up to this amount. The average net salary of €1,446 was 3.3% higher than this sixth decile figure.

Further distribution shows that 30% of employees earned up to €1,000, 40% up to €1,112, and 50% up to €1,245, corresponding to the median. Around 40% of employees earned more than €1,400, 30% more than €1,567, 20% more than €1,794, and 10% more than €2,222.
