TIRANA, May 14 /ATA/ Local and international visitors have praised the exhibition “A Journey into the History of News”, recently opened at the Castle of Tirana by the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, as an important testimony to the country’s historical and cultural memory.

During their visit, guests took particular interest in the black-and-white photographs produced in the laboratories of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, as well as in the first broadcasting devices, early radio stations, bulletins, telegraphs, and the individuals who stood behind the news.

Visitors valued the exhibition for its diverse archival materials, which reflect significant moments in Albania’s history, documented over decades by the Albanian Telegraphic Agency.

In this context, one of the visitors appreciated the documentation of the role of women journalists throughout the years.

She stated: “Your history is remarkable, and its documentation is equally significant. I especially value the recording of women journalists and the role of women during that period. We would welcome the opportunity to see more of this in the future and to hear the voices of these women.”

Among the distinguished visitors was also soprano Edit Mihali, who remarked: “Your exhibition immediately drew my attention, which is why I stopped here. It is truly engaging, and I would perhaps like to see more explanations regarding the personalities featured—what role they played in the history of ATA. We grew up with ATA’s photographs and news. I would welcome more details, and I hope that next time you will present something even larger in scope.”

Tourists from various countries also showed interest in the exhibition, pausing to take a closer look at the photographs on display.

An American tourist observed: “I am trying to gain an insight into the journey of Albanian news, and from every perspective it is truly beautiful here. The history is genuinely captivating, and I am delighted to learn about all that has transpired—the joyful periods as well as the difficult ones that your people have endured.”

A group of young visitors from Spain stated: “We come from the cities of Valencia and Barcelona. We invite everyone to come here to Tirana and to learn more about history, because it is truly fascinating.”

Another visitor remarked that the exhibition was particularly engaging for those passionate about history and photography.

He stated: “I am interested in old photographs about the history of Albania. This exhibition is very engaging, and I recommend that people visit it. It is truly beautiful, both for photography enthusiasts and for those who wish to gain insight into Albanian history.”

The ATA exhibition showcases an important part of the agency’s photographic and historical archive, highlighting the role of the media in documenting the country’s major events over the years.

The exhibition, organized in partnership with DPA, will remain open to the public in the coming days at the premises of Tirana Castle.
