This year’s edition of the Arges Rally will take place between May 9 and 11, the organizers announcing several kilometers of special test, a press release sent on Tuesday by Pitesti City Hall, supporter of the rally, informs.
The organizer ACS DTO Rally Team has prepared a total of nine special tests in the 2024 Arges Rally. The 2-day competition will stretch on over 430 kilometers, of which 137 timed, with special tests on Transfagarasan, near Campulung and in Pitesti.
“The start will be given this year directly from Transfagarasan, the crews will start from Conacul Ursului/Bear Mansion on the trials on the most famous road in Romania. The CATENA Arges Rally – Powered by Citroen 2024 starts on Wednesday, May 8, with the identification of the special events, which end on Thursday afternoon,” the press release adds.
Thursday is scheduled the shakedown that will take place, for the first time, near Albota, between 14:00 and 18:00. The test session, organized just 10 kilometers from the center of Pitesti City, will be a novelty for both crews and fans who will make their first contact with the cars in competition mode.
“Also on Thursday is scheduled probably the most beloved moment of the rally: the festive start, which will kick off at 19:30 in the City Hall Square in Pitesti. All crews will be presented to the public, and then will parade in the center of the municipality, to the applause of fans who will be able to take photos with the competition cars or receive autographs from pilots and copilots,” the source says.
Friday’s start will bring another novelty, the competition cars and crews will be transported from Pitesti to Conacul Ursului, from where they will start in a series of four races. After completing the already special classics: Transfagarasan (14.45 kilometers) and Vidraru Dam (23.50 kilometers), the competitors will travel to the Campulung area for the Godeni race (10.69 kilometers), then they will go through a new route variant of the superspecial in Pitesti, near the stadium.
The day will end after 50 kilometers of special testing, with a visit to the service park in Pitesti, where the technical teams can be seen in action during the 45 minutes allowed for repairs and set-ups.
“For the second day of the Arges Rally (…), the crews will face Transfagaran for the second time, but only after completing the special Berevoiesti (10.69 km). Then the action moves on the two uphill races between Vidraru Dam and Conacul Ursului, Vidraru Lake (23.50 km) and Piscul Negru (14.45 km), followed by a 30-minute visit to the service park in the mountain area. The competition ends with the two special ones on the descent, Transfagarasan 2 (14.45 km) and Vidraru Dam 2 (23.50 km), which will also count as Power Stage, a test that offers additional points to the fastest crews.
CATENA Arges Rally – Powered by Citroen is an event organized under the aegis of the Romanian Federation of Sports Motoring, supported locally by the Arges County Council and the City Hall of Pitesti.
