Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Member of Parliament Mihailo Andjusic of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Montenegro needs a decision on borrowing, as the state will not be able to meet its obligations and pay salaries and pensions to citizens without it.
“It is essential to adopt a decision on borrowing, not the budget,” Andjusic said at a press conference.
He added that the DPS parliamentary group, due to their inability to attend parliamentary sessions, felt the need to express their position on the most significant issue in society –the economic situation.
In his opinion, the situation is much more alarming than it appears to the average citizen.
“For the first time, the Minister of Finance officially stated a few days ago that, if borrowing is not realized, Montenegro faces bankruptcy. This confirms our thesis that, at this moment, the parliamentary majority and the Government are not concerned with the budget law, but with the borrowing decision, as we have reached an unfortunate situation where, without borrowing money, salaries and pensions in Montenegro cannot be paid,” said Andjusic.
