The deepening of cooperation between the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) and the Department of Journalism of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in the fields of research, publications and educational programmes was envisaged in a memorandum of cooperation signed in Thessaloniki by ANA-MPA president and managing director Aimilios Perdikaris and the Head of the Department, Christos Fragonikolopoulos.
The two sides agreed to jointly organise workshops, seminars, roundtable discussions, summer schools and conferences, as well as to jointly conduct studies and research focused on journalism, the media and the wider field of communication. In addition, the memorandum of cooperation provides for the internship of the department’s students at ANA-MPA, the joint publication of collective volumes and special inserts, and the provision of a 20% discount to ANA-MPA employees on postgraduate tuition fees.
“The cooperation memorandum we are signing today is not just a bridge between a university and a pillar of journalistic production. It is a demanding and ambitious effort, in the context of which the two poles will exchange experiences, so that each of them can face the great challenges of the time from their own point of view,” the president and managing director of ANA – MPA Aimilios Perdikaris said, stressing that today’s agreement “essentially begins a cycle of closer ANA-MPA cooperation with academic institutions.”
Emphasising that there are many fields of cooperation, he specifically referred to the factchecking of news and dealing with fake news or the way of managing social media, which create a completely new landscape for news.
