Akernia pumping station is reconstructed, 40-year old pumps replaced with latest generation ones

The old pumps of Akernia pumping station that were being used for about 40 years had significantly lost their water removal capacity. Therefore, they have been replaced with the most modern means that will guarantee the drainage of about 4600 ha of land.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj was in Akernia today accompanied by Mayor of Vlora Ermal Dredha and announced that the full reconstruction of the pumping station, worth about 150 million Lekë, has been completed.

“The full reconstruction of the pumping station of Akernia, worth about 150 million lekë, is completed, where the 40-year old pumps, which had significantly lost their water removal capacity, have been replaced with the latest generation electro-mechanics that will guarantee the drainage of about 4,600 ha of land, serving the agricultural areas, but also all the very modern infrastructure that is being built, especially with the airport of Vlora”, Minister Denaj stated.

According to her, the new pumping technology saves up to 50,000 Lekë per cubic meter of water, making the pumping station more efficient and economical.

“This investment is another step forward in the improvement of the pumping station systems in Albania, helping development of the area and improving the conditions for the community”, said Denaj.
