The Ministry of Finance, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Municipality of Prishtina have today signed the agreement for the project for energy efficiency in 47 public buildings in the capital, which is worth six million euros.

The Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Hekuran Murati, said that this project aims to improve the internal infrastructure of public buildings in Prishtina. He warned that very soon other municipalities will also benefit from grants for energy efficiency.

“The agreement for energy efficiency in public buildings in Prishtina, which aims to improve the internal infrastructure of public buildings in Prishtina, guaranteeing heating systems that are more efficient, enable energy saving and coincide with international standards. In addition to the new heating systems, this agreement will replace the doors, windows, and thermal insulation of 47 public buildings, including kindergartens, schools, and primary health care centers,” Murati said.

This project was welcomed by the director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sergiy Maslichenko, who said that these investments are profitable for the citizens of Kosovo.

“These are profitable investments, which will return within seven years even with the participation of the private sector. We will also support the private sector, small and medium-sized enterprises, where we will create more jobs, improvements and tax revenues. Together, with Minister Murati, we are preparing larger projects of efficiency in public facilities worth seven million euros in many other cities of Kosovo”, emphasized Maslichenko.

The Mayor of Prishtina Municipality, Përparim Rama said that the 47 public buildings in the capital will have a much better environment, where buildings will be insulated, doors and windows will be improved.
