A convoy with coffins of 14 victims of genocide to be buried in Potočari passes through Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, July 9 (FENA) – Family members, friends, numerous citizens of Sarajevo, officials from all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, individual ambassadors and representatives of international organizations, and representatives of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina are today, as every year before, in front of the building of the Presidency of BiH welcomed a convoy of vehicles carrying coffins with the remains of 14 victims of the genocide committed in the summer of 1995 in the area of ​​Srebrenica, who will be buried on July 11 in the Srebrenica – Potočari Memorial Center.

In silence, with prayers or in another convenient way, and by placing flowers on the vehicles transporting the coffins, which stopped briefly in front of the State Presidency building, they paid their respects to the innocent victims and saw them off on their way to Potočari, where the brother will be buried next to brother, son next to father, cousin next to cousin…

Among others, there were the chairman and a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić, the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Refik Lendo, the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt, the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy, the Raisul-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein effendi Kavazović and numerous other officials and citizens.

The convoy with coffins stopped briefly at the monument to the murdered children of the besieged Sarajevo, and at the Markale market, after which it continued its journey to Potočari, where it should arrive in the afternoon.

The remains of 14 victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in the summer of 1995 will be buried at the collective funeral on July 11 in the Srebrenica – Potočari Memorial Center.

The youngest victim to be buried is seventeen-year-old Beriz (Omer) Mujić, born in 1978 in Zvornik. The oldest victim to be buried is Hamed (Ibrahim) Salić, born in 1927.
