84.5 percent of households have internet access

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to a survey conducted by Monstat, 84.5 percent of households in Montenegro have internet access at home, which is an increase of 4.2 percentage points compared to 2020.

“Over the five-year period, there has been an increase in the number of households with internet access. This year, the percentage of households with home internet access has risen by 4.2 percentage points, from 80.3 percent to 84.5 percent, compared to 2020,” states the Monstat survey on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in households and by individuals.

Households access the internet through personal and portable computers, as well as mobile devices.

The survey indicates that 32.3 percent of respondents access the internet via personal computers, while 67.6 percent do so through portable devices such as laptops, netbooks, and tablets.

In terms of the method of accessing the internet, or types of internet connection, the majority of households, 84.8 percent, use fixed broadband connections. Mobile broadband connections are used by 71.6 percent of households.

Compared to last year, there has been an increase of 1.4 percentage points in the number of households using mobile broadband connections.

When it comes to the territorial distribution of internet access in households, it is lowest in the north at 75 percent, while the southern region has the highest access at 95.8 percent.
