ZAGREB, 30 Dec (Hina) – Retail spending in Croatia rose for the 32nd consecutive month in November on an annual basis, signaling continued stable economic growth.
According to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), working day-adjusted retail sales fell 2.2% compared to October, but were up 1.4% compared to November 2024. While this marked slower growth than the 4.1% increase recorded in October, it continued the long-term upward trend.
Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco declined by 2.6%, while non-food retail — excluding motor fuels and lubricants — rose by 4.1%. For the first 11 months of 2025, overall retail turnover increased 3.4% year-on-year.
Since consumption is the largest component of GDP, the November retail growth suggests that the Croatian economy maintained stable growth into the fourth quarter. In Q3, GDP had already risen for the 19th consecutive quarter, by 2.3% year-on-year.
