The Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested 19 arrests against radical activists as part of the investigation into events during the January 31 national demonstration against the eviction of the Askatasuna anarchist and anticapitalist ‘social centre’ squat in the Piedmont capital.
Charges include attempted murder in connection with the assault on a police officer—involving the use of a hammer—and the setting of a vehicle on fire with an officer inside.
Fourteen home searches were also carried out across Italy; these searches were authorized by judicial authorities.
