TIRANA, July 23/ATA/ The Ministry of Defense said today that in the last 24 hours, in the territory of the country there have been registered 21 wildfires.
18 of them have already been extinguished thanks to the continuous efforts of hundreds of operational forces working on the ground under hot weather.
According to the data provided from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies, 3 fires are still active.
The soldiers of the Armed Forces, the Firefighter units along with those of the forest service are working for the complete isolation of the fire burning in the village of Pregja-Lure, in Dibra.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to put out the fire that started in the village of Shënmëri of the municipality of Mirdita, as well as the fire between the villages of Goranxi and Derviçan, in Lower Dropull. Due to the hot weather, the difficult terrain and the strong wind, the fire yesterday in this area reached large proportions, worsening the situation in the villages of Dhuvjan, Goranxi and Derviçan.
The Ministry of Defense said that the Armed Forces are always ready to help put out fires, whenever their intervention is required. It also asked the residents to cooperate with local authorities by reporting fires in time so that to prevent them spreading into wider areas.
