ZAGREB, 3 Feb (Hina) – The 32nd Đakovo Bušari, eastern Croatia’s largest Carnival event, will take place in Đakovo on Saturday and Sunday, 7 and 8 February, with around 1,200 participants, Mayor Marin Mandarić and Tourist Board Director Marija Borko announced on Tuesday.
Mandarić invited the public to Đakovo next weekend for a celebration of tradition and Carnival festivities. The procession will begin in front of the city administration building with the ceremonial handover of the city keys to the Bušari, traditional masked figures wearing large wooden masks and woollen cloaks.
On Sunday, 8 February, a traditional Carnival horseback ride will be held in Piškorevci near Đakovo, with around 40 riders taking part.
