The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), Ahmet Ismaili, has announced that the Kosovo economy is expected to end the year with a growth of 3.9 percent, while inflation is expected to be around 3.8 percent.

Regarding inflation, he said that the moderation is expected to continue in 2026, when inflation is expected to be around 3.4 percent, while stating that the increase in prices this year is mainly driven by food, in line with regional and European trends.

In a press conference, Ismaili said that for 2026, economic growth is expected to reach 4.1 percent, supported mainly by private consumption.

While he added that inflation this year is expected to end with 3.8 percent, emphasizing that it is expected to moderate to 3.4 percent for next year.

In terms of the balance of payments, Ismaili announced that the deficit has widened from 5 percent to 7 percent of GDP.

He also spoke about the expansion of financial institutions in the four northern municipalities of the country.

While he announced that loans have increased by about 15 percent.

The Central Bank has also divided the awards into two categories, “Writing and reporting in journalism for the financial sector” and “Young Economist”.
